Porta Mencos was the son of Alfredo Porta and Raquel Mencos de Porta. The poet compiled and classified the Guatemalan Parnassus, published in 1928 and printed in the National Typography of Guatemala. In addition to each of the poets mentioned in the work, it is presented with a synthetic biography (Haeussler, 1983).
