"Ray Pendergraft was born in 1905 in a lonely pioneer cabin at Big Trails, Wyoming. He was weaned on stories of the Chisholm Trail, Custer's Last Stand, the Johnson County War and the Spring Creek Raid. A son of Washakie County's first sheriff, Ray was Worland's first chief of police and a justice of the peace. From personal recollection, oral histories, and scholarly accounts he has drafted a regional history covering the years 1742 to 1972".-goodreads.
